It was always my dream to start my own surf school. But that did not seem feasible because we live in Zwolle, for kitesurfing there is not always enough wind and waves are not in the middle of the country. With the arrival of the hydrofoil and with it the Wingfoiling a lot more becomes possible. Suddenly you can sail in all wind directions, a little wind is enough and you can surf in many more places. That's why I took my chance and started Wingfoil IJsseldelta in 2023, wingen and Foiling, close to the city!

It took me a very long time to learn Wingfoiling myself. In the beginning I had the wrong equipment for a beginner, which got in the way of progression. I also had no lessons and figured out all the techniques myself. The advantage is that I made all the mistakes myself and know how not to :) With the right equipment and the right lessons I had a taste for it and the learning process suddenly went much faster and I became even more enthusiastic about this sport.

Besides Wingfoil IJsseldelta, in the winter I am a project manager on a self-employed basis with the government in mainly digitalization projects. I used to do this all year round, but was ready for a new challenge. I have always been crazy about (water) sports and with my roots in Friesland I grew up with this of course.
